Conversations after sex

The lonely main protagonist soothes her grief after losing her life partner with fleeting meetings with random men who cross her path. Through the fragmented conversations that encompass a spectrum of emotions, from embarrassment, sadness, and anger to effervescence we gain insight into the lives of modern people who, each in their own way, search for love and warmth, for which there is almost no room left in today’s world. The conversations between strangers after anonymous sexual encounters, which – precisely because of this shield of anonymity – become a catalyst for shocking communication, reveal a destructively honest portrait of modern society.

Quality comedy texts are chronically absent from Slovenian stages because the genre is notoriously difficult to get right and it comes with a reputation of not being serious theatre. However, this convincing comedy script by the renowned Irish screenwriter, playwright and actor in combination with an experienced director promises an entertaining first Slovenian production.  Although Tijana Zinajić has recently been better known as a film and television director, she has directed a number of productions in Slovenian theatre for which she has won several awards, most recently the Noble Director Award at the Days of Comedy in Celje, for the direction of Realists that were produced here in our theatre. She returned to our stage to direct Thirtysomethings that have already had over thirty reprises.
