A perpetuum mobile, a hypothetical machine that moves endlessly without energy supply, is a miracle and clearly expresses the striving of a human to researching the new, even the impossible and the unrealisable. Manufacturing such a machine continues to be an unrealisable dream beyond human capabilities. Perhaps, however, human kind might fulfil it sometime in the future and turn the idea of a machine that for now only exists in the heads of the visionaries and utopians – and generates eternal polemics with the opposing opinions about the possibility or impossibility of its creation – into reality. And yet it moves, everything moves! The incessantly moving and changing human body, the planet on which we live and the entire universe, are a constant inspiration to conceive a perpetuum mobile with which the dancers would create new, exquisite movement, the unstoppable and hypnotic flow of pulsating bodies – and with it, a miraculous ever-moving dancing world, which is at the same time a part of the past and of the future.

The production is dedicated to the 570th birth anniversary of the visionary, artist, architect and inventor Leonardo da Vinci, who attempted to create a perpetuum mobile himself, but soon denied that it could be built. Although his genius placed him far ahead of his time, he was not able to create endless motion, but he nevertheless remained an assiduous searcher of the new and the excellent. Our international cast of dancers also researches the perpetuity of the movement  and the infinity of new discoveries that were so dear to master da Vinci.

We like to create something out of nothing – of merely our bodies.
